~ Author - Stacey Sanders, CPA, CSEP, Deluzio & Company, Partner ~

Property Tax
The deadline to apply for rebates on rent and property tax has been extended for elderly or disabled PA residents. Specifically, the deadline to apply for rebates on rent and property taxes paid in 2018 is extended from June 30, 2019 to December 31, 2019.  The Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program is open to Pennsylvanian’s who meet the following requirements:
  • Age 65 and up
  • Widows and widowers age 50 and up
  • Persons with disabilities age 18 and up

Income limits: (in calculating income, half of Social Security income is excluded)

  • $35,000 per year for homeowners
  • $15,000 per year for renters

The maximum standard rebate is $650. However, supplemental rebates for certain homeowners can increase the rebate amount to $975.  The state automatically calculates supplemental rebates for homeowners who qualify.

Distribution of rebates begins July 1, 2019. Applicants who requested a paper check in lieu of direct deposit should expect to receive their check in the mail in early July.  After June 30, 2019 rebate claims are distributed as they are received and generally take 6-8 weeks to process.  Taxpayers can check the status of their rebate at:
